Day 4 - Mon 21 Sep 2015

HONG KONG Holiday Inn Golden Mile

We have 2 full days left in Hong Kong and one of them is Disney. Todays forecast had thunderstorms and showers so Disneyland will be tomorrow.

We got up and had breakfast. I've never seen the kids so excited to eat. Although, when they have a pancake machine, donuts, strawberries, blueberries, hash browns, scrambled eggs, toast, sausages they are sure to eat. And today we found Strawberry & Blueberry juice. Kobe enjoyed that which isn't a surprise.

After breakfast we caught the MTR to North Point. We were travelling to Causeway Bay but went slightly further to go to another Nike Outlet. We were there at 10a, but it didn't open till 11:30. All the shops seem to open late, and stay open late. We went back to Causeway Bay and went to a shopping center there. Its interesting how the big shopping centers work here. In Australia malls will be 2 or 3 levels and take up huge amounts of space. They dont have the space here so malls are 20-30 levels high. Each floor isn't very big so only has a few stores, and in some cases a whole floor could be one store. In Causeway Bay, the whole floor in one shopping center was Toys R Us. Their weren't any complaints from the kids, although they did not have the Michael Jordan Enterbay collectible toy things. From there we walked back to the Star Ferries Pier. The walk was longer than we were thinking, and then roadworks and construction made what was already longer than we were thinking, even longer. Everybody was happy to finally get on Stay Ferry. It returned to Kowloon, and we walk around to Harbour City which we went to the other day. We went to another section just to get an idea of where a particular pier is that we will need to go to when going to Macau. We had bought bread the day before, and with butter and jam from breakfast we made Sandwiches and the kids sat out at ate those while looking at the big ferries. From there we walked back to our hotel. The idea was to give Ashton a good sleep in his bed today, but he fell asleep not too far from our hotel. Back in the hotel we put him in his bed and he continued to sleep. He ended up having a good sleep. I guess that is more likely to happen when one sleeps in their normal (for the moment) bed, nice temperature, and is comfortable.

;Once awake, we went for a short walk up to Granville Rd. Had a look at some shops between our hotel and there, bought some cupcakes to eat and then returned back to the hotel. We went to Spaghetti House for tea which isn't the most exciting destination, but the kids enjoyed it. The originally plan for Hong Kong was to eat and try lots of different local foods, but when so busy during the day the kids its been made more difficult to get to those kind of places. The kids are fussy which doesn't help, but add to that the heat, sore legs, etc it just isn't worth the push in most cases.

After tea we bought a few touristy things and then made our way down to the Avenue of Stars to see the Symphony of Lights across to Hong Kong Island. After that we returned to the hotel, and everyone went to sleep. We are all sleeping in one room, with 2 double beds and a cot. We weren't sure how it would go but we are finding it easier this time, than when we went to America 2 and a half years ago and 4 of us had to sleep in the same room. Charli and Kobe being that bit older help, and Ashton makes things too easy for us. Tomorrow is Disneyland.
A rare photo of the 2 of us :-)
