Day 8 - Fri 25 Sep 2015

SINGAPORE Swissotel Stamford

We checked out of the hotel, and we had to catch 2 taxis to the Ferry station. Normally there is the free shuttle bus, but we needed to leave earlier than the bus started. We got to the Ferry station and we checked in our bags. We queued up like a normal airline queue and passed our bags. Only difference is the bags were going onto the Ferry, and when it arrived in Hong Kong we get off the Ferry and all the airlines have checkin lines dedicated to the Ferry customers. We went to our checkin desk for Cathay Pacific and handed over our tickets and the baggage info we checked into the Ferry. They get those bags and they go automatically to Singapore. We were very excited for this 4 hour flight as we were all flying business class.

Since January 2015 i have been collecting Qantas Frequent Flyer and Velocity points. We needed a flight this day and surprisingly Qantas had no economy award tickets for the flight we wanted, but they did have Business Class. So, we used our points and paid practically nothing and got to experience something we would never pay for or be able to afford.

We entered the main Hong Kong airport and went to the Cathay Pacific main business lounge, The Wing. It has several parts to it. One is a sitting lounge with a bar, another is like a cafe, and the most interesting thing to us was the Noodle bar. As a business class passenger everything was free. We had several lots of noodles, cans of coke, and also got to enjoy Moet and Chandon champagne.

The business class fare made a normal horrible travel day into something a bit special. Kobe looked a little unsure everytime the flight attendant called him Master Kobe.

Ashton sleeping and not being squashed :-)
We arrived in Singapore about 6:30pm, and by the time we got into our hotel it was about 7:30pm. As the kids really hadn't eaten lunch or tea that day. They were hungry. Next to hotel was a McDonalds. I went down to it to get something i knew the kids would eat and that would be quick. I walked in and loved what i saw. Everything was in english. After Hong Kong were ordering anything was difficult, this made things super easy.

The hotel was a nice hotel. The room was an executive room which gave us a room in the top 3 floors and harbour view room. As the hotel is the tallest hotel in the Southern Hemisphere, it meant our room was on the 58th floor. It gave us a nice view of the Marina Bay Sands.

Meeting us in Singapore was Steph, Mark and Declan. We had a total of 3 nights in Singapore, so organised the first night Renee would watch Declan while they went our for tea, and then we could swap the next night. This worked as we were in the same hotel, but the 3rd night we were staying in a different hotel.

Renee went and babysat Declan, and I got our kids to sleep. Ready for a fun day with the Marders.
